I am reviewing on behalf of my Mother who has been in constant severe pain for several weeks with what we assume is sciatica, although because it has not yet been diagnosed, we are unsure what is actually causing her pain. She then began to suffer chest pain and pain around her ribs, because she was unable to travel to the surgery a home visit was requested, no doctor was available for this so a paramedic attended. This guy was just amazing! He was so caring and kind and he pinpointed her pain immediately, diagnosing a muscular issue that would probably take weeks to resolve. My Mother had been seen by more than one doctor for the possible sciatica, no diagnosis given for the sciatic pain, just pain killers including at one point Cocodomal, which completely messed up her digestive system and gave her hallucinations! She was told to attend the RUH for an X-Ray which she did so immediately, weeks later she still has not received the results, she phoned and was told that she would receive a telephone call appointment for the results of the X-Ray, she still had to wait two weeks for this. Is there some reason that her doctor cannot just call her? Why on earth does she need a "telephone appointment"? We still do not know if my Mother has a serious condition but it seems that her doctor at Widcombe Surgery doesn't care at all. I have begged her to allow me to make a complaint but she is so scared that they will neglect her even further and will not allow me to do so. Is this a good surgery? Absolutely not!
I have had no difficulty getting an appointment.
I have found the reception staff charming and helpful
BUT.....I have seen 2 different doctors........I was astounded by their lack of interest and lack of empathy. What has happened?
Been in aching pain for nine months now made five different appointments over that time, doctors didn't seem interested with my problem every visit was basically fed some lame excuse told me on my last visit we don't know what to do had to put suggestions to them finally getting somewhere but still waiting for my hospital appointment 9 months on

To the GP’s & Staff at Widcombe Surgery,
I am writing to congratulate everyone at your surgery on the fantastic patient care that you provide to the people of Bath. The recent national survey results are a testament to this.
In the Bath and North East Somerset area, on average, 94% of patients feel the service they receive from their local surgery is "good" which is well above the national average of 85%. It is by virtue of the hard-work of surgeries, like your own, that Bath boasts among the best customer survey results in the country. Everyone in Bath is very grateful for the care that Widcombe Surgery provides and it brings great reassurance to know that we benefit from some of the best surgery staff in the country.
Everyone at Widcombe Surgery should be very proud of the results achieved, which rank your surgery, not only amongst the best in the area, but across the country too. It is particularly impressive that 84% feel that their GP listens to them at your surgery which is a staple of the service that you provide. I am sure that you will continue to provide unparalleled levels of customer care.
Please do pass on my congratulations to the rest of the staff and please do not hesitate to get in touch if I can ever be of any assistance.
Best wishes,
Ben Howlett
